Port Pirie Diocese

The Diocese of Port Pirie needs your help to support the Ministries of the Sisters of St Anne and the Coober Pedy Parish. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander readers are advised that the following page may contain images and voices of people who have died.

The Sisters of St Anne provide services to the community through In Centre work; Outreach to Aboriginal Communities; Social Work including visits to Kindergartens, Hospitals, and Aged Care facilities; Ceduna Red Cross, and Pastoral Work.

These programs include working closely with the Aboriginal Community walking with them and providing guidance, care, and nurturing when needed. The sisters also seek to address issues of domestic violence, homelessness, and loneliness.

The present pastoral ministry of Coober Pedy Parish has many different aspects. It involves ministry within the township of Coober Pedy, the surrounding cattle stations which extend into the Northern Territory, and the peoples and communities comprising the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) lands.

Everyday support provided by the Diocese includes the provision of basic needs including clothing, bedding, and more often food and cool drinks.
