Leave a lasting legacy

Leaving a gift in your Will – no matter how large or small – means that you leave a legacy that reflects your values and greatest hopes for the future generations. You will make a real, eternal difference to the lives of children and families for generations to come.

Thank you for prayerfully considering a gift to Catholic Mission in your Will (also known as a bequest). Including Catholic Mission in your Will is a powerful gift with an eternal impact. Your generous gift – no matter how large or small – will make a real difference in the lives of children and families for generations to come. Gifts in Wills help us to prepare for the future, but more than that, you leave a legacy that reflects your values and greatest hopes for future generations. Your gift will be used with wisdom and integrity and will continue to provide hope for the thousands of communities supported by the Church as we partner with the people who are most marginalised and vulnerable.

  1. Attitude of Gratitude

"I want to see young mums able to birth without fear of losing their life. I want to see children afflicted by land mine explosions able to remain mobile and be all that God created them to be. I want to see religious sisters serving in countries like Ethiopia or Uganda able to share both their faith and access to medical facilities with some of the most vulnerable people on this planet. The legacy from my children and wife is hope. It is my prayer, wish and desire to see this hope available to all."

Frequently Asked Questions:

A gift in Will (also known as a bequest) is a gift of any kind set out in a Will. It is a simple but powerful way to provide support for your family, friends and the causes that matter the most to you. It transforms your Will into one of the most potent tools for change there is, with little or no impact on your lifestyle today.

Many of our supporters want to see the work of missionaries and the Church continue forward in marginalised and vulnerable communities in Australia and around the world. For some, that’s supporting children living with disability in Cambodia, and for others it may be training seminarians in Nigeria or Ghana. Whatever your motivations, including Catholic Mission in your Will is a gift that will transform the lives of children, communities and Church leaders, and will let your heart for mission live on.

You don’t need to be wealthy to create a Will, you simply need to be willing. Leaving a gift of just 1% of the residue (or remainder) of your estate can make a tremendous difference and help provide education, food, medical supplies or spiritual formation for children living in rural areas of Asia and Africa. Whoever you are, whatever your situation, even a small gift can make an enormous and lasting difference.

The easiest way is to seek the help of a solicitor, whether you are creating a will for the first time, or simply making an update. Your Will records your wishes at a point in time, so it is helpful to regularly review your Will as your circumstances change so that it accurately reflects your current wishes.

We recommend that you speak with a solicitor to help create or update your will. We also recommend that you download our Information for your solicitor document above and take it with you to your consultation. Please do not hesitate to contact our team should you have any further questions.

This is entirely up to you. However, letting us know about you gift can help us plan for the future. More importantly, we would love to express our most sincere gratitude for your gift, as well as keep you and your family informed about our work with children, communities and Church leaders that your gift will be a part of.

  1. There's so much that needs to be done

When asked about what inspired her to support Catholic Mission and leave a gift in her Will, Noreen said, "I've loved missions ever since I was at school at Our Lady of Victories - Bowen Hills since I was about five. That...led me into the missionaries and what their work was... the wonderful work they do and the sacrifices they make. They give up so much. They give up their lives." Noreen is most passionate about India, Pakistan, the Middle East and Myanmar, and says, "There's so much that needs to be done".

  2. Living the Gospel

"The Catholic faith has always been central to our family life. It has helped us to appreciate the important things in life. I take a real interest in the work of Catholic Mission and the support of vocations, especially in relation to education and training. I am choosing to leave a gift in my Will because it is important that Catholic Mission has the resources to continue its faithful work well beyond the lifetime of any one individual. My hope is that those who will be reached through this gift will come to experience the love, joy and peace of God in their lives."
