“What we are doing is; help them and educate them to have an open mind, helpful, respect and believe in good action.”

Sr Sivongsouk Volakoummane
Supervisor of the Deaf and Mute Community Centre

The centre provides food, healthcare and education to support the children. Ranging from 7 to 19 years of age, the children also participate in practical activities such as gardening, handicrafts, sports and games at the Centre.

While openly teaching about faith is not permitted in Laos, the Sisters’ work hard to instill core tenets in the children such as respect, responsibility and being helpful.

The support received has helped the Centre continue to provide basic needs for the students such as nutritious foods, health care and educational resources.
