Arrupe students, pictured here in front of a dining room in La Paloma, come to the Centre for a variety of reasons, some are landmine survivors, others recovering from Polio. Latest Updates & Challenges
While the school closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, students still had access to the computer classroom and library and were able to continue with online lessons.
Although COVID-19 has created challenges, the students living at the Centre are still able to enjoy activities in their free time after classes like, football, baseball, and swimming.
Unfortunately, though, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the students have not been able to visit their family. However, once restrictions lift, they will be able to visit home twice a year. In the meantime, throughout the lockdown period, the families of students each received food packages and other support.
In 2020, one student finished the Leadership program in the Philippines, while this year another student was able to attend through online classes, as COVID-19 restrictions prevented any travel. At the Centre, all students receive three meals a day, while the 16 staff on duty receive a fair salary.
